Mark Zuckerberg will have to overindex on openness, and hang in tightly, if he wants his big Metaverse bet to pay off.
I just plowed through the Andreessen essay.
Had to look him up.
He reminds me of another big mouth we had to suffer Jack Welch.
“Apple’s big push into the space was validating for Meta, a signal it wasn’t that crazy for being so bullish on the metaverse, but it instantly changed its role”
I found it interesting that Apple didn’t mention the Metaverse, and did everything it could to avoid calling it a VR device. Perhaps the device doesn’t validate the Metaverse so much as show there’s now two lanes companies can go down? (Which will make it all the more confusing for consumers)
The Midjourney cover pic is great.
No one in the right mind will trust any operating system for any hardware by Zuck. It will algorithmically violate every detail of people's lives.
Any thoughts about what Google's play is here? Considering that there are rumours of them building their own headset
I love how Apple is taking the Vision Pro in the direction of "next generation computer" instead of "metaverse device." At the very least, having Apple in the game will hopefully start to add some more competition to the mix. Interested to see where this goes 😄
